If you’re a fan of tattooing it seems that in a largely uphill battle were slowly gaining ground. We certainly didn’t do ourselves any favors by falling in love with an industry that was originally promoted by bikers and gang members at one time. However you can’t help but love seeing people in the work place “higher positions than ever with great tattoos”. These guys/girls are not going out of the way to hide them either which is a great representation of our industry.
Now more than ever tattooing is breaking the barrier of becoming true art and less of a symbol. I still find the sexiest women in the world walk by me on the street with a half sleeve and pure confidence. Funny because the woman in the $1000 dress and high heels can’t stop thinking about if her hair is perfect and if anyone noticed the smudging of her eyeliner while buying her $8 overpriced coffee. Don’t get me wrong most people still care about their appearance but you can feel in their presence if they believe in the image they are portraying of themselves. I don’t mean to be judgmental myself; I’ve seen those very same people kill a room with their strength, however you can’t help but feel how are the “HERD” of sheep keep trying to impress each other making themselves miserable with every waking moment.
It’s great when celebrities show off their ink and then continue to be great spokes people; however it’s the faces of everyday people like you and I that will continue to dictate whether we keep moving in the right direction.
